expand/collapse Bill & Hillary Sound More Like Bush Every Day
by Steve Hammer
The Clintons are no longer idolized by me. I’m still cool with Chelsea, but Bill and Hillary have angered and disappointed me by running one of the most brutally cynical and negative campaigns in history.

Faced with a tidal wave of support for Barack Obama, the Clintons’ response has been nothing short of disgraceful. As soon as it became apparent she was losing, the Clintons took a page from the Nixon and Bush playbook and started fighting dirty.

expand/collapse Satire: Hillary's Winning Strategy
by Rosa Brooks
What I really want to do here is talk about a fundamental misperception many have about this race. People seem to think my opponent has some kind of "lead" because he's won more "delegates" and more "votes" and more "states" than I have. But are we going to decide this important race on the basis of such arbitrary metrics?

Forget delegates, rules, votes: I deserve it. I'm Hillary Clinton, and I approved this message.

expand/collapse A Liberal View of the News
by Mary Pitt
The Republicans appear elated that Clinton won Pennsylvania and are engaged in an orgy of devouring Senator Obama and his wife. They adopt the Clinton charge of "elitism" and accuse them of "being out of touch with the American people". Listening to MSNBC's Joe, Mika, and Tucker as they claim that the Obama's do not have the "common touch" is another instance of walking through the looking glass. For these privileged people to complain that a black American couple who have, through education, become sufficiently successful and articulate to become potential occupants of the White House appears beyond their comprehension.

expand/collapse One Nation, Under a Heartless God
Why Is America So Mean?
by Ted Rall
Here in the land of the twee and the craven, I know when to shut up. That's what we do now. Airports are nodes of high-intensity fascism in a nation settling into authoritarianism lite. Hassle the bastards and you might end up dead.

expand/collapse Petraeus Promotion Frees Cheney to Threaten Iran
by Gareth Porter
The nomination of Gen. David Petraeus to be the new head of the Central Command not only ensures that he will be available to defend the George W. Bush administration's policies toward Iran and Iraq at least through the end of Bush's term and possibly even beyond.

It also gives Vice President Dick Cheney greater freedom of action to exploit the option of an air attack against Iran during the administration's final months.

Today's Quote:

"A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
- John Stuart Mill
Editor's Notes & Rants:

Israel bombs three cities in Lebanon, Zionist controlled US media refuses to even report the story.

UN investigator into Israeli conduct stands by comments comparing Israeli actions in Gaza to those of the Nazis. It's about damned time people said it, they should be shouting it from the rooftops. Israel has become the 21st Century's Nazi Germany!

SCOTUS rules Fourth Amendment meaningless.

Bush shows up on game show, and brings his record low ratings with him. I guess the producers were just to damned stupid to realize that bringing on the hated man in America would turn people off.

Is Hillary a covert GOP agent, who's mission is to destroy the Democratic Party?

Hillary insists she would win the nomination, if only Democrats were Republicans. Kind of says it all, doesn't it?

"Clinton 'best to take on McCain'," if by 'take on McCain' you mean to run on the same ticket with...

McCain's pastor says gays cause huricanes. I say fundamentalist Christianity causes hatred and diminished mental capacity.

McCain opposes equal pay for women. I'm guessing that when he finds out how that polls with women, he's going to want to take away their right to vote, too.
